Rise and Thrive

Private 1:1 Coaching with Laura

Working harder and keeping everyone happy isn't going to get you the recognition you deserve. Because the system you are navigating isn't actually looking to reward your dedication - it's designed to run on your willingness to over-deliver.

You've been trained to believe that if you just keep your head down, say yes to the extra project, and quietly absorb the chaos of the latest organizational restructure, the support will eventually arrive. You treat your conscientiousness as a currency, hoping it will eventually buy you respect and breathing room.

So you continue to over-deliver at your own expense. You stay late to rewrite the report, you pick up the work of colleagues who drop their responsibilities, and you use your own energy to bridge the gaps in an understaffed department. You keep running just to stay level, waiting for a quiet period that never actually comes.

But you did not work this hard to become irreplaceable only to be treated as inconvenient. When you use your own health and sanity to save the system, you are kept trapped in a position you have long outgrown simply because they know they cannot easily replace you.

You are navigating systems where everything is flagged as urgent, where bosses rotate every few months, and where you are expected to manage people without any real authority. When you ask for help, you are told there is no budget - or that you just need to prioritize better.

The system is built to run on your willingness to over-deliver. It relies on you quietly absorbing the chaos of understaffed departments and shifting goalposts, using your own energy to bridge the gap.

But on the inside, the narrative is exhausting.

You finish a piece of work, and instead of clicking send, you hesitate. You find yourself asking a colleague to check it over first - not for collaboration, but out of a quiet paranoia that you've missed something obvious.

When a conversation with a manager feels slightly off, you mull over it obsessively on the drive home. You replay the words in your head, wondering if they think you are incapable, and asking yourself how you are still getting away with it.

Because you have to maintain a professional veneer at work, you have no safe, confidential space to unpack this. So you carry the tension home.

You find yourself irritable with your family, unable to be present at the dinner table because your mind is still trapped in your inbox, and then you beat yourself up for not being there for your family in the way you really want to be. Answering calls and emails in evenings and weekends, never able to switch off, putting yourself last once again.

The cruellest part of this pattern is the self-blame. You look at your qualifications and your track record, and instead of feeling proud, you conclude that the stress you feel is a personal failing. Every new thing you try ends the same way, “Is this it?” You look around at the job, the house, and the family you have built, and quietly ask why you don't even know who you are anymore.

It is fundamentally wrong for an organization to weaponize your reliability against you.

You should never have to prove your worth to a system that uses your conscientiousness to keep you small. You did not work this hard to become irreplaceable only to be treated as inconvenient if you ask for what you deserve.

And that's why I created Rise and Thrive.

Rise and Thrive is a private, 1:1 coaching partnership designed to step-by-step unravel the habit of over-delivery and put you back in charge of your own life.

This is not a generic time-management program or a checklist telling you to prioritize yourself. It is a highly personalized space built for senior leaders and high-performing women who are ready to break the pattern of chronic over-delivery, lead with authority, and actually have the headspace to enjoy their life.

We work together in one of two ways, depending on your current capacity and the depth of support you need:

  • Option 1: 12 private sessions over 6 months - for deep, sustainable integration as you navigate complex organizational dynamics and rebuild your relationship with work.
  • Option 2: 6 private sessions over 3 months - a focused, high-impact container to address immediate boundary challenges and reclaim your energy.

I spent years pouring my energy, health, and sanity into a system that was completely comfortable watching me break. It wasn't until I collapsed under the pressure, took sick leave, and eventually resigned that I realized trying to save the system was a losing game. That was the moment I started the slow, necessary work of figuring out who I actually was when I wasn't over-delivering - and it's the exact path we follow inside this program.

Here is how we unravel the habit of over-delivery step-by-step:

Step 1: Expose the Hidden Drivers
We look under the hood at the rules you've been carrying since childhood that tell you over-delivery is the only way to stay safe. Once you see these subconscious patterns clearly, the self-blame lifts - you realize your exhaustion isn't a personal failure, but a predictable response to an unsupported system.

Step 2: Interrupt the Automatic Yes

We step back from the parts of your identity that tell you you are only valuable when you are solving everyone else's problems.  The parts that have to get everything right in order for people to accept you. You will learn how to catch these urges in real time, giving you the space to pause before taking on work that isn't yours to carry.

Step 3: Hold Your Limits Without the Dread
We make your boundaries stick. When saying no triggers a physical stress response, we work to quiet that nervous system panic so you can hold your limits without feeling like you are doing something wrong - freeing up your energy to move forwards on your own terms.

What can I expect?

The shifts that happen inside this coaching relationship aren't just theoretical - they show up in your actual calendar, your career progression, and your home life.

Here is what is possible when you stop over-delivering and start protecting your capacity:

“The coaching came at a crossroads in my career and I feel more empowered in both my work and home life. Since my coaching journey started I have gained a promotion, had the confidence to lead difficult conversations and led a team of people through some big changes. I feel that Laura's coaching has been instrumental in helping me thrive, not just survive.”
- Zoe, Lecturer

“Before I worked with Laura I was feeling completely overwhelmed, unorganised and unmotivated. I was trying to do everything myself and found it hard to delegate or ask for support. After working with Laura I am no longer trying to do it all and actively make time to look after myself without the guilt. I can confidently delegate to my team at work which means that I no longer feel snowed under all the time.”
- Michaela, Conveyancer

“Before I worked with Laura I was struggling with unhealthy habits, self-loathing and procrastinating. My biggest shift would have to be how I feel about myself. I now see I deserve happiness, I deserve love, I’m happier than I have been in years. I’m more tolerant and accept myself and others. I’m not failing, I’m absolutely succeeding. I am me, I love me and if others don’t? That is alright too.”
- Tracey, Communications Manager

FAQs:

How can I be sure this is right for me?

This partnership is specifically designed for senior leaders and high-performing women who are highly competent on the outside but exhausted by the internal pressure of over-delivery. If you find yourself second-guessing your decisions, holding back from delegating because it feels easier to do it yourself, or carrying work stress home to the dinner table, this is built for you. During our 30-minute Discovery Call, we will look honestly at your current patterns and make sure this is the right fit before we begin.

What if it doesn't work for me?

The reason generic time-management tools and boundary checklists have not worked for you in the past is that they only address the logical surface. The habit of putting yourself last runs much deeper than that. We do not just talk about what you “should” do. We use precise, women-centred coaching frameworks and somatic tools to quiet the physical stress response that saying no triggers, so you can actually hold your boundaries without the guilt.

Do I have to do the somatic work? It seems like nonsense to me.

I will never make you do anything you’re not comfortable with. We work in partnership to move you out of the patterns that don’t work and into the situation you want to be in. I will challenge you to help you grow. Somatic work was something I had to get used to when I first started with a coach, I had dismissed it as something “woo woo”. In practice, I now use it everyday and my mind no longer rules my body.

If you do not interrupt this pattern, the pressure doesn't just stay the same - it compounds.

You will continue to absorb the organizational chaos at work, which means you will keep bringing that tight, reactive energy home. You will find yourself physically sitting at the dinner table with your family while your mind is still trapped in a loop - replaying a conversation with your boss or rewriting an email in your head.

The moments of quality time and genuine fun will continue to be replaced by survival mode. And you risk staying stuck in a role you have long outgrown because you are simply too reliable to replace.

But the most expensive cost is your health. If you keep waiting for a quiet period to finally rest, your body will eventually make that decision for you. You do not have to wait until you are forced to take sick leave to finally establish what you need.

There is another way to navigate your career.

You can walk into your evening actually there - closing your laptop at 5:00 PM without a stomach-drop or a frantic apology. You can make decisions based on your actual capacity, lead with quiet authority, and protect your time so you can actually live the life you have worked so hard to build.

If you are ready to stop over-delivering at your own expense and reclaim your life, the next step is a confidential, 30-minute Discovery Call.

Here is exactly how we start:

  1. Book your call: Choose a time that fits your diary. There is no preparation required.
  2. We look at where you are: We’ll have a direct, supportive conversation about the patterns that are currently draining your energy, where you actually want to get to, and whether Rise and Thrive is the right fit to get you there.
  3. We map out the start: If we both agree it's a fit, I will share the program investment and payment options. We will get your first session booked into the diary right then, so you have a concrete starting point.

If you have any questions before you book your discovery call, feel free to email me at laura@laurashallcross.co.uk
